Frequently Asked Questions

I teach the American style of ballroom dances, as well as Club and Country dances. If you decide to take private lessons, you pick and choose exactly which dance(s) you learn!  

No, you don't need to bring a partner. You will be dancing with everyone. While I always allow couples to stay together if they wish during a group class, students will be asked to dance “rotate” to a new partner from time to time. This ensures a wide variety of experience and practice for everyone. 

 There are no official age groups for group classes.* We can have “regulars” from the ages of 14 to 80. We strongly recommend guardians participating with minors in group classes. 

 Most of the classes are casual. Office attire is appropriate, and so is casual “going out” clothing. Avoid shorts or sweats. Shoes that will stay with your feet as they move and will slide along the wood floor are ideal. Avoid high-grip tennis shoes, flip-flops, or stilettos.

Remember this is a social occasion. Dress accordingly and pay attention to personal hygiene.

 Most of the group classes feature material for the beginner to the intermediate dancer. Group classes often start with beginner-level material and move on to incorporate more difficult material. Classes are both challenging and fun, and they are designed to get you comfortable on the dance floor and in a “social dance” as quickly as possible. Unless you came with a dance partner, you will be asked to rotate to different class participants throughout the class to ensure a wide variety of practice. I will adjust the content to best fit those who participate. 

 Don’t worry, that’s what the classes are here for. My goal is to make you feel comfortable and at home on the dance floor.
